Day 1 Queenstown > Wanaka

Driving time Queenstown to Wanaka 70km / 1 hour

Arrive in Queenstown, the entry point to the Southern Lakes ski region.

Collect your rental car from Queenstown Airport, then drive over the Crown Range, New Zealand’s highest state highway. The drive presents you with picture-perfect views as you drive to your laid-back yet buzzing ski destination, Wanaka.

Check in to your Wanaka accommodation and get settled in. You can venture downtown to check out the stunning lakeside town, or relax in your accommodation while gearing up for your Wanaka skiing holiday adventures.

Cardrona is a relaxed and friendly ski area that has been entertaining skiers and snowboarders for 35 years. Explore it all – wide open beginner trails, pristine groomers, fun free-ride terrain, and world class parks and pipes.

Treble Cone is the largest ski field in the Queenstown Lakes District, providing access to 550ha of rideable terrain. You’ll find something for all abilities. Covering a leg-burning 700m of vertical, Treble Cone is recognised for its long runs and uncrowded piste and off-piste trails.

Day 3 Wanaka Skiing

Test your skills at Cardrona Alpine Resort or Treble Cone today. If you would like to enjoy some lunch up the mountain this afternoon, both Cardrona and Treble Cone offer a range of cafés and restaurants that will keep your energy levels up!

In the evening you have the chance to catch a film at Cinema Paradiso, Wanaka’s quirky local theatre (hint: the homemade cookies and ice cream at half time are delicious).

Day 4 Wanaka Skiing

Day three of your 7-Day Wanaka Ski Pass includes:

Really explore the mountain today, ticking off trails as you venture around your favourite runs.

This evening you may like to visit REALM, New Zealand’s largest and most advanced Virtual Reality experience. Enjoy one of the various cutting-edge experiences on an Infinity Platform. At REALM, you’re not just watching, – you’re immersed!

Day 5 Wanaka Skiing

Day four of your 7-Day Wanaka Ski Pass includes:

Have an amazing experience at Cardrona or Treble Cone today. Have a break from the slopes at one of the cafés  – pull up a picnic table, have a cold drink and a hot meal in the sun!

Day 6 Wanaka

Recover and rejuvenate!

On your day off, indulge in the rest and recovery options Wanaka offers. Take a long, lazy lunch beside the lake, visit Puzzling World or the National Toy and Transport Museum, or take a walk along the stunning walking tracks. For a more sophisticated option, discover the taste of Central Otago at the Rippon Winery.

Day 7 Wanaka Skiing

Day 8 Wanaka Skiing

Day six of your 7-Day Wanaka Ski Pass includes:

Make the most of your day at either Cardrona Alpine Resort or Treble Cone! The retail shop at both ski fields is open from 9.00 am until 4.00 pm daily, if you want to buy a souvenir to remember your visit to the mountains.

Day 9 Wanaka Skiing

Day seven of your 7-Day Wanaka Ski Pass includes:

It is your last chance to push those ski legs a little harder! Enjoy your last day at Cardrona Alpine Resort or Treble Cone.

You might like to enjoy a drink after your final day on the snow this evening. From lakefront bars with incredible views, through to cosy venues with roaring open fires, classic Kiwi pubs or lounge bars serving award-winning cocktails, you are definitely spoilt for choice. 

Day 10 Queenstown

Recover and rejuvenate!

Driving time Wanaka to Queenstown 70km / 1 hour

Spend today taking a look around Queenstown. Any Queenstown activity can be added to your ski package to finish your holiday on a high. Suggestions include the Shotover Jet, night skiing at Coronet Peak, 4WD Safaris to Middle-Earth, skydiving, or bungy jumping.

To recharge, add lunch or dinner at Walter Peak Station or at the top of Skyline Gondola.

Stay 1 night in Queenstown.

Day 11 Depart Queenstown

At your leisure, drop your rental car off at Queenstown Airport and depart Queenstown.
