10 Day North and South Guided

Day 1 The Coromandel Loop

  • Transfer from Auckland the evening prior, the tour starts away from Auckland traffic by doing the Coromandel Loop
  • A stunning ride with many twists and turns, riding along stunning coastline with mountain views

Day 2 Waihi – Waioweka Gorge – Gisborne

  • Head towards the East Cape through the kiwifruit growing area of Katikati
  • Ride along the stunning coastal roads in the Bay of Plenty before cutting inland to end the day riding through endless twists and turns of the Waioeka Gorge
  • Option to enjoy an evening Kapa Haka maori show, high above Gisborne in the natural outdoors

Day 3 Gisborne – Lake Taupo

  • The ride today takes you along a coastal ride through the wine growing region of the Hawkes Bay
  • Stop for lunch in the art deco town of Napier before continuing inland to the Central Plateau
  • Spending two nights in Taupo

Day 4 Lake Taupo (Free Day)

  • Today take the opportunity to relax and experience Taupo’s many attractions including Huka Falls, Geothermal Parks, Boat Trips, Skydives, Bungy Jumps and many more..
  • Or take a day ride around Lake Taupo

Day 5 Taupo – Wellington

  • A longer day of riding heading south through Tongariro National Park past it’s 3 distinctive volcanos
  • Finishing the day at the southern tip of the North Island in Wellington

Day 6 Wellington – Picton – Nelson

  • Relax on the ferry from Wellington to Picton as you journey across the Cook Strait into the stunning Queen Charlotte Sound
  • A short afternoon ride from Picton to Nelson along the challenging twists and turns of the Queen Charlotte Drive

Day 7 Nelson Free Day

  • Enjoy a free day today to explore Nelson’s beaches, lakes, national park, unique land formations, wineries, gourmet cafes, artists and boutique shopping
  • Or take a day trip up to Abel Tasman National Park – approximately 200 kms

Day 8 Nelson – Punakaiki

  • Today’s ride takes you through the Buller Gorge
  • Before heading out to the coast and traveling down the West Coast stopping at Punakaiki Rocks

Day 9 Punakaiki – Hanmer Springs

  • Zig zag across the South Island taking in the magnificent Southern Alps mountain passes
  • Traveling through Lewis Pass following a meandering course along a succession of rivers to Hanmer Springs

Day 10 Hanmer Springs via Kaikoura to Christchurch

  • Finish up the tour by riding from Hanmer Springs to Christchurch
  • First head north to the seafood and whale watching town of Kaikoura before heading south through the wine growing region of Wairapa
  • Arrive in the garden city of Christchurch concluding a fantastic tour of New Zealand

14 Day North and South Island

  • Travel through Lewis Pass and onto Arthurs Pass National Park traveling up and over the majestic mountain pass

Day 11 Arthurs Pass – Fox Glacier

  • Travel towards Hokitika, famous for its green stone
  • Continue on down the stunning West Coast, a beautiful coastal ride with high mountain ranges on your left and ocean on your right

Day 12 Fox Glacier  – Cardrona

  • Continue south along the coast before heading up and over Haast Pass
  • Traveling through the lakeside town of Wanaka and up the Crown Range Road to the Historic Cardrona Hotel for the night

Day 13 Cardona – Te Anau

  • Zig zag down the other side of the Crown Range Road towards Queenstown
  • Stop for some sightseeing or travel along the shores of Lake Wakatipu to Glenorchy
  • Early afternoon travel on the town of Te Anau
  • Option to join an evening glowworm cave tour

Day 14 Te Anau – Milford Sound – Te Anau

  • Today zig zag through the valleys and mountain passes towards Milford Sound
  • Ride through the one kilometre natural rock Homer Tunnel
  • Enjoy a 2 hour boat cruise through the Sound for those who wish
  • Leisurely ride back to Te Anau for the evening

Day 15 Te Anau – Queenstown

  • This is just a half day of riding to get back to Queenstown and you are back in Queenstown by lunchtime on this day

18 Day North and South Island

Day 15 Te Anau – Invercargill

  • A late start today to give everyone the chance of a lie in
  • Then head off on the Southern Scenic Route to the southern town of Invercargill – once arriving in Invercargill, you’ll have the option of a further ride out to Bluff the southernmost point of New Zealand for those that wish
  • Also in this town is the Burt Munro museum which is definitely worth a visit

Day 16 Invercargill via the Catlins to Dunedin

  • Today head out back towards the East Coast of the South Island, with a beautiful ride through the stunning Caitlins region of Southland, a place of hidden waterfalls, river valleys and picturesque rocky bays where the Pacific Ocean bites into the land
  • You will also make a visit to the Petrified Forest – 180 million years old, is revealed at low tide at Curio Bay, this Jurassic forest, of petrified tree stumps and logs is amazing! Then head up to the Scottish like town of Dunedin for the night

Day 17 Dunedin to Lake Tekapo

  • Leaving the town of Dunedin behind you, head up the coast to Oamaru where you have time to visit the penguin colony, before heading inland to the stunning lakes in the centre of the Southern Alps and the South Island – Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki
  • Both of these lakes have Mount Cook as the stunning back drop to the vividly unbelievable blue of these lakes. Tonight spend the night on the shores of Lake Tekapo

Day 18 Lake Tekapo via Rakaia Gorge to Christchurch

  • Today the ride takes you back to the Garden City of Christchurch – leave Tekapo heading across the Canterbury Plains and through the stunning area of the Rakaia Gorge, as you head back to Christchurch – a day of relatively straight road riding after the twists and turns encountered in the last 18 days – just plain cruising home!
