Day 1, 06 June 2017: Arrive Auckland

Arrive in Auckland – the “City of Sails” and New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland is bordered by two stunning harbours. Collect your rental car from the airport, explore the city, then make your way to your accommodation.

Day 2, 07 June 2017: Auckland

GAME DAY: LIONS VS BLUES

Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city and main transport hub. Auckland’s diverse landscapes provide countless opportunities to get immersed in nature. In the west, lush native rainforest plunges down the hills to meet the sea on dramatic black sand beaches, while the east’s sheltered golden sand beaches are fringed with red-flowering pohutukawa trees. To the north the rolling hills of wine country meet stunning coastlines, and in the south you’ll find picturesque country gardens, unspoilt forest and tranquil bays.

In the afternoon, enjoy the atmosphere before the game and head along for a great night!

Day 3, 08 June 2017: Auckland

Leave the hustle and bustle of the city and discover the beautiful Hauraki Gulf Marine Park, which is visited by a staggering one third of all the types of marine mammals found on earth. Departing directly from the Viaduct Harbour, you will be welcomed aboard the 20 metre, purpose-built vessel ‘Dolphin Explorer’ for an unforgettable marine mammal eco-safari out on the sparkling waters of the Hauraki Gulf. During your 4.5 hour eco-cruise, you are guaranteed to see whales and dolphins – or you get a free trip! Day 5, 10 June 2017: Christchurch

Day 6, 11 June 2017: Mount Cook

Driving time Christchurch to Mount Cook Village 332 km / 206 miles, 4 hours

Travel south across the Canterbury Plains and inland towards the majestic Southern Alps. Cross the barren Mackenzie Country to reach two fantastic glacial lakes as you journey towards Mount Cook.

Mount Cook Village is nestled at the base of the Southern Alps, with stunning views of Mount Cook and the surrounding mountains. At 3,724 metres, New Zealand’s highest mountain (Aoraki / Mount Cook) is dazzling, yet there are 27 other mountains in this alpine backbone which peak at over 3,050 metres, and hundreds of others not far short of that, all making up the famous Southern Alps.

Day 7, 12 June 2017: Wanaka

Driving time Mount Cook to Wanaka 206 km / 128 miles, 3 hours

Venture past Lake Pukaki, a picturesque turquoise glacial lake, before you travel through the dramatic Lindis Pass which links the Mackenzie Basin with Central Otago. Wanaka awaits you, boasting panoramic views, a relaxing atmosphere and myriad walking tracks.

Day 8, 13 June 2017: Queenstown

Day 9, 14 June 2017: Queenstown -> Milford Sound

After you have explored the thermal reserve, enjoy a relaxing sulphur spa overlooking the reserve. There is no limit on how long you can spend at Hells Gate – enjoy the experience at your leisure.

In the evening, join the crowd for yet another nail-biting game and relish in the atmosphere this passionate rugby nation provides!

Day 13, 18 June 2017: Auckland

Driving time Rotorua to Matamata 68 km / 42 miles, 1 hour

Make your way to Matamata to discover the real Middle-Earth on the most picturesque private farmland. Near Matamata, visit the Hobbiton Movie Set from the Lord of the Rings films in a fascinating two-hour guided tour. The set has been completely rebuilt and will remain as it was seen in the films. There are spectacular views across to the Kaimai Ranges from the rolling green hills of the movie set, which is still a working sheep and beef farm. You can relax and soak up the unique atmosphere with a great cup of coffee or a light meal in The Shires Rest Cafe.

Driving time Matamata to Auckland 159 km / 98 miles, 2 hours

Day 14, 19 June 2017: Auckland

Today, either relax in Auckland, or you have the option to hop on the ferry and take a day trip to Waiheke Island! Waiheke Island is the jewel in the crown of the stunning Hauraki Gulf. Waiheke, in the Maori language, means cascading or ebbing water and from the moment you cross the sparkling waters of the Waitemata harbour, you will start to enjoy the world-class wines, freshly pressed olive oils, sample the wonderful flavours of the local cuisine, lose yourself in numerous art galleries, and relax on the pristine beaches.

Day 15, 20 June 2017: Depart Auckland
